Canine Influenza (H3N2) Outbreak

Attention Chicago Dog Owners,

There has been recent outbreak of the canine influenza strain (H3N2), as well as other respiratory diseases in the Chicagoland area. Back in 2015, there was a number of reported cases of H3N2 here in Chicago, but numbers have suddenly climbed again over the course of the past few weeks.

Every precaution should be taken to prevent the spread of these diseases even further. Talk with your pup’s vet about the  available vaccine for the H3N2 strain. Also, watch for signs of illness like coughing or sneezing, and be sure to use precaution before exposing your pup to new dogs.

A special thanks goes out to The Animal Care Center of Chicago for taking the time to send along this information.
