Just because you and your pup are Chicago locals doesn’t mean that you should miss out on some of the great tourist destinations. These Chicago tourist attractions are great places where your pooch can enjoy all that the city has to offer.
Dogs are allowed on leash on the 3,330 foot long pier! Navy Pier is the perfect place to walk along Lake Michigan and take a touristy picture in front of the Centennial Wheel. After walking around and enjoying the scenery, you can grab a bite to eat at dog-friendly Harry Caray’s Tavern.
The Magnificent Mile
You’ll find plenty of tourists walking around the 13-block stretch of stores on North Michigan Ave. The Mag Mile is a great place to people watch and take a walk. For some retail therapy, stop by Tails in the City to find luxury dog items, or visit The Shops at Northbridge–a pet friendly mall that even has pet comfort stations on the first and second floors.
Chicago Lakefront Trail
Enjoy the 18 miles of path along the coast of Lake Michigan! Your pup will surely enjoy the fresh air, exercise, and unbeatable views of Chicago. From the Lakefront Trail you can even access (dog-friendly) Montrose Beach.
Dogs are allowed on leash at this famous Chicago park where you can enjoy the skyline and beautiful views of Lake Michigan. Snap a pic of your pup in front of Buckingham Fountain, the centerpiece of the park. If your dog wants some added exercise, Grant Bark Park, located in Grant Park, is a large off-leash dog park where your pooch can run free.
The Riverwalk is the perfect place for your pup to enjoy Chicago’s architecture while also getting in a leisurely walk. You’ll find lots of tourists, locals, and dogs strolling and dining along the river, and you and your pooch can even stop to eat at a pet friendly restaurant like O’briens.
